Volunteer for 'She Walks Here'

Help create safer, more walkable, and more inclusive communities across Queensland contributing to the Safe Cities | Safe Streets for women and girls project

Queensland Walks works with communities, local government and partners to improve walkability for everyone.

Our volunteers play an important role in supporting this work bringing local knowledge, lived experience, and a shared commitment to safer streets. We’re currently inviting expressions of interest to join our She Walks Here volunteer program, starting with roles supporting our  Safe Cities Safe Streets for Women and Girls initiative.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer with Queensland Walks to deliver a safe, inclusive community activity.

'She Walks Here' Leader

Walk Leaders guide and host community walks, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for participants. In this role, you will:

Lead or co-lead a Safe Cities walk in your local area
Bring women and girls together to explore their neighbourhood after dark
Support group discussions during the walk
Capture local insights and support advocacy.

'She Walks Here' Assistant

Walk Assistants support the delivery of community walks and help ensure everything runs smoothly. In this role, you will:

Assist with on-the-ground coordination during walks
Help with participant sign-in and general support
Contribute to a safe and inclusive environment
Support Walk Leaders with data collection and post walk tasks.

Ongoing support as part of a small, connected team
Opportunities to contribute your insights and local knowledge

Who we’re looking for

We welcome expressions of interest from people who:

Care about their local community
Are interested in improving safety and inclusion
Are comfortable leading and engaging with others in a group setting
Are willing to participate in training and onboarding.
