DOUBLE OY WEEKEND – WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY!
We are delighted to announce an exciting weekend of orienteering coming up soon. This weekend will feature two Orienteer of the Year (OY) events that offer a fantastic opportunity to experience different orienteering formats.
OY8 – Sprint Event at QUT Kelvin Grove: expect some elevation in this unusual campus with complex detail and multi-level buildings.
Date: Saturday 9 August
Time: 3pm
OY9 – Bush Event: This event will be a Medium-Distance OY at Prout Road in Burbank, 20km ESE of the Brisbane CBD.
This is a gorgeous* new bushland map by Mark Roberts with a variety of steep gravelly gully-spur (long courses only) and gentler terrain with intriguing creeklines. A special award for anyone who finds the site of the tragic aircraft crash here in 1942, not marked on the map. (*Alfred did significant damage, so wear gaiters and full body cover please.)
Brenton Gray and Lorenzo Calabro are the course setting team; more information to follow; volunteers welcomed.

It’s an ideal time to practice and sharpen your skills in preparation for September and the upcoming Australian Championships.
