Elevate 2042: Creating sustainable benefits from the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games

Creating sustainable benefits from the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games

The Olympic and Paralympic Games will provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to improve the walkability of South East Queensland.

Queensland Walks was proud to attend and contribute to the Queensland Government’s Legacy Consultation, and we’re pleased to see the following included in the Legacy Plan:

‘Make Walking or Wheeling Easy and Enjoyable: Develop dedicated, safe and engaging pedestrian networks connecting venues and precincts locally and region-wide.’

Queenslanders, now it’s your turn to contribute! From all parts of Queensland, we want you to share your ideas for improving walkability, liveability, and the connections to and from public transport.

  • Should we be setting modal targets, or targets to reduce car use or reliance on private vehicles?
  • Should we be funding and designing our Queensland Walks – Kids Walk program?
  • Should we be funding a Pedestrian Priority Program that escalates delivery of footpaths, kerb ramps, and safe crossings such as Raised Priority Crossings (wombats), continuous footpaths, and safer streets?
