Queensland Walks Month is a free, online celebration of walking, running, rolling and strolling across all parts of Queensland.
Walk, run, roll or stroll anywhere in Queensland during August and share your walking experiences, share your photos and reels or engage in online discussions to help improve the ‘walkability’ of your favourite walking spaces.
Queensland Walks Month aims to improve the walkability of our beautiful state through conversations, and knowledge-sharing. More people walking in Queensland is good for everyone.

We encourage you to get involved in Queensland Walks Month.
The Move Together Challenge is a Queensland‑wide initiative designed to make walking and everyday movement easier to build into everyday life. It supports people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to be more active in practical, achievable ways, at work, home and in the community.
From 3 August to 13 September, any steps and physical activity you log in your 10,000 Steps account will automatically count towards the Challenge. Walking, whether it is a short walk, a longer stroll, or movement during daily tasks like housework or gardening all counts towards your total.
Every step contributes to a shared statewide total, showing how regular walking adds up across Queensland. Set your own goals, track your progress, and take part in the Challenge.
Let’s see how many steps Queensland can reach!

Step into one of Brisbane’s most unexpected moments of cultural history. Led by historian Robert Allen, Queensland Walks and Brisbane Living Heritage, this guided walking tour examines the real‑world setting of the 1991 “Democracy Manifest” arrest through the lens of transport and urban design. What began as a police incident became enduring cultural folklore, shaped as much by place and movement networks as by people.
This Walk My Street check-up tool will help you to see what your streets already have in place and whether there are any improvements that could be made to improve walkability. NEW! We have updated the Walk My Street check so that you can test the walkability during the day or at night.
