Walking Network Plans 2023-24

Walking Network Plans for Queensland announced for 2023-24

What do the following Queensland Councils have in common?

  • Banana Shire Council
  • Brisbane City Council
  • Bundaberg Regional Council
  • Burdekin Shire Council
  • Cassowary Coast Regional Council
  • Etheridge Shire Council
  • Flinders Shire Council
  • Isaac Regional Council
  • Longreach Regional Council
  • Murweh Shire Council
  • North Burnett Regional Council
  • Scenic Rim Regional Council
  • Somerset Regional Council
  • Sunshine Coast Council
  • Tablelands Regional Council
  • Western Downs Regional Council.

These 16 Councils have stepped up to deliver a total of 26 Walking Network Plans in Queensland towns and suburbs in 2023-24 through the very successful Walking Local Government Grants program. All thanks to Transport and Main Roads Queensland 50:50 funding program and work of the Queensland Walking Action Plan for Walking.

We look forward to working with these Councils, and we’ll be looking for local walking advocates like you, to participate in localised consultation. Walking Network Plans engage local organisations and individuals in the community to identify places where walking conditions and the network can be improved to make Queensland communities more walk, roll and strollable.
If you live in the regions listed, and interested in how the plans and consultation works, get in touch
