Queensland Recreation and Sports Strategy submission
🥇Did you know? Walking is the most popular way to move.
It’s simple, inclusive, and powerful—and it deserves a starring role in Queensland’s sporting future.
That’s why Queensland Walks and the Queensland Walking Alliance have proudly made submissions to the Queensland Sport Strategy 2025. Because walking isn’t just a way to get from A to B—it’s a sport, a social activity, and a community connector. 🏃♀️🌿
Our submissions call on the Queensland Sport Strategy to:
🏷️ Adopt an inclusive strategy title – because making movement everyone’s game means recognising the diverse ways Queenslanders choose to be active.
💰Ensure equitable funding for active recreation – so all Queenslanders can access and enjoy the activities they find fun, meaningful, and rewarding.
🏞️ Design accessible and inclusive places, spaces, and programs – enabling people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds to be active safely, day and night.
🎉 Celebrate walking with a statewide festival – to inspire, activate, and connect communities through the joy of walking.
With Brisbane 2032 on the horizon, let’s make walking the most celebrated, accessible, and supported sport in Queensland.
👟 Join us in our mission to create a more walkable, liveable Queensland.
